Open Access Policy

All articles published in Exploration Geophysics subsequent to 2024 become Open Access (OA) after a period of 6 months from initial publication.

Authors who are members of ASEG can request OA immediately on publication.

Authors who were members of ASEG at the time of the publication of older articles can request that those articles be made OA by contacting the journal at eg@aseg.org.au.

Review Policy

The acceptance criteria for all papers are the quality and originality of the research and its significance to journal readership. Papers will only be sent for review if the Editor-in-Chief and/or the deputy editor(s) determine that the paper meets the appropriate quality and relevance requirements, including an adequate language standard. 

The review process is confidential and Exploration Geophysics employs a double-blind process where both the authors and the reviewers are anonymous.

Authors will be asked to provide a conflict of interest statement during the submission process.

Plagiarism

All submissions to Exploration Geophysics are assessed using the Crossref Similarity Check. Any submissions that have an overall similarity score greater than 20% or a single source score greater than 5% will be subject to further review.  Please note that self-plagiarism (reproducing your own previously published work without scitation) is also unacceptable. 


Self-Archiving

There is an embargo period of six months from publication for all submissions.  After this period the as-published version of the article may be shared on:

  • the author's personal website
  • the author's company/institutional repository or archive
  • non-profit repositories
